The visualization above shows trips by agents as simulated in BEAM moving throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in a variety of modes and using a variety of transit agencies. The "choices" that are displayed as animated starbursts show when and where agents plan their trip and the maximum expected utility of that choice as measured by their utility function.
The visualization was created using Deck.gl, an open source suite of high performance visualization tools released by Uber last year. The dark themed map layer underneath is from Mapbox. Later in the video above, you can see the full interface we extended to give us the ability to show/hide layers and replay key moments more easily.
